Beach Habitat
Chevron Gorgon Project
Barrow Island
Pendoley Environmental has been engaged since 2004/2005 to conduct marine turtle research and monitoring at Barrow Island as part of the Gorgon Gas Development. Studies are designed to gather biological and ecological data regarding marine turtles at Barrow Island to address the Ministerial Conditions regulating development at this site. The program incorporates an annual volunteer tagging program to facilitate collection of data from both Barrow Island and mainland beaches over two months at the peak of the summer nesting season.
AECOM
Pilbara
In 2008, Pendoley Environmental designed and conducted a regional survey of Pilbara island and mainland beaches to map marine turtle nesting habitat usage as part of a project site selection program for AECOM (formally Maunsells). We designed and delivered a program that provided a balance between logistics, resources and scientifically rigorous data collection. The project provided sufficient data with which confidently identify and map marine turtle presence, distribution and level of activity as identified during the survey in preparation for project related risk assessment and management planning.
