Aerial Transect Surveys

Using existing published methodologies Pendoley Environmental collected regional in-water observations data on marine turtles between Cowrie Beach (Mundabullangana Station) and the De Grey River during 2008 and 2009. In conjunction with boat-based surveys we were able to define in water habitat usage by both resident and migrant marine turtles in the Port Hedland region. The information is being used to underpin risk assessment and management planning for the proposed Quantum dredging and construction activities.
